Phew, what a scorcher!

Less than a week? YOU CRAZY, was less than a day.
Everyone gets pissed off because I hate summer. .. NOW YOU SEE WHY.

I am boiling alive in my tiny room!

Reblogging for the mung beans - the main ingredient of payar thoran, which might just be one of my favourite Indian foods ever.

End of exams

I’ve majorly let all healthiness slide during my exam period. But I’m ready to get back on track now. I want to be able to do the scorpion pose by the end of summer and I’m going to start running again. This also means no going crazy over summer ice creams and frappes :(

Yoga

Yoga is the only thing that de-stresses me right now. Yesterday’s class was amazing. We were working on being able to do the splits. I have really tight inner thighs. Apparently I should be looking forward to DOMS. I’m going to try out the class on Thursday too.

Pearl Barley

I’ve tried lots of substitutes for white rice - brown rice, bulgur wheat and quinoa, but there’s always been something missing. Brown rice is too chewy and quinoa and bulgur wheat lack the size and texture that you need to be satisfied.

Pearl barley is perfect. I had it for the first time recently and it’s the closest thing to rice for me. The only thing is that it’s a pain to make. Quinoa and bulgur wheat take under 30 mins, but this takes 70-90mins to make.

I’m eating it with Lemon chicken and chili beans. Yum :)

I went to yoga on Tuesday

We did some new stuff, which was all good at the time, but I felt so stretched out and sore the next day. There’s only a slight improvement today. Also, proper shoulder stands are different from what I thought they were.

A well-known speaker started off his seminar holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?” Hands started going up. He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, “Who still wants it…?” Still the hands were up in the air. “Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. “Now, who still wants it?” Still the hands went into the air. “My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We may feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who do love you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by who we are. You are special; Don’t ever forget that.

Seriously hate revision period

I am currently winning the battle against stress eating, but we’ll see how long that lasts. I haven’t been doing much exercise either :(
